A room for Adeline

Outdoorman and I learned last fall that we were going to be gifted with our first grand baby. WooHoo! Babies are just the best, aren't they? So I did as every grandmother-to-be does...I started a nursery Pinterest board. (right?)

Now, big girl and her mountain man live in the cutest little stone cottage fixer-upper you ever did see. It's on several acres in the country. (I see farm animals in the future...another Pinterest board) Just look how cute it is. But baby's comin' and time's a wasting.

The nursery began life as a storage room then morphed into a guest room, so job number one was clearing everything out. Aren't those curtains cute? And that closet...a head lamp was required before heading inside.

We had the handiest man, Billy, come over to blast out some concrete block to create a closet that actually works (no headlamp required). Then, big girl painted the nursery-to-be with a lovely shade of the softest grayish, greenish, whitish color ever. (Benjamin Moore's November Rain...love the name)

Just look.

Oh hello Pottery Barn Kids amazing rocking chair! You are so comfy. You even look beautiful in Adeline's nursery all by yourself. And please admire that big closet door while there's nothing else to distract you.

The nursery didn't stay empty long. A rug (Pottery Barn) was layered over this pretty, dark floor. Then curtain rods and curtains made their appearance shortly. (Thanks, Pottery Barn and Outdoorman)

Next, we went hunting for stuff. It's one of my very favorite activities. There's a place in town called "Farmhouse Antiques". If you make regular trips...like daily...and spend money, you can find great treasures. Take a look at a few and use some vision.

It was just the funnest (yes, I know that's not a word) project. Knowing at the end there'd be the most precious baby girl arriving was exciting and gratifying. (Have I mentioned that babies are just the best ever?)

I finally started imagining what Adeline would see when she looked up from her crib. It took me just a minute before I realized that the most beautiful thing to see (besides babies) are flowers. So I created her mobile using a gathered twig and some sweet flowers. (thank you Fig and Company for the lovely faux flowers)

The nursery came together pretty easily. Big girl loves purple...and neutrals...so the color scheme was simple and quiet. Talented artist and middle girl, crafted the sweet chalkboard (#artbyhannahlee) and accessories mostly were found locally or handed down through family.

We love Sweet Adeline. And we love her cozy room.
