A Christmas Cabin on Mossy Creek
Apparently I've got Christmas on the brain.
Not sure why since it's about 95 degrees and sunny outside. Perhaps I'm just super excited about Sweet Adeline's very first Christmas or maybe back to school happenings make me think of the holidays upcoming. Regardless, I'm looking forward to it.
When I blogged about last year's campus wide Christmas dinner in "Winging It", my tell-it-like-it-is-Venezuelan-violinist-surrogate-son (too many dashes?) told me that while the decor for Christmas 2016 was "fine," Christmas 2015 was "much better." Gotta love that honesty. So here, at his request, are a few photos from our shindig year before last.
My inspiration came from an lasting gift our campus was given over the past couple of years by a family devoted to Carson-Newman. They really uncovered the beauty of Mossy Creek for all of us. If you're not an "Eagle" you may not understand the Mossy Creek reference but it's kinda hallowed ground for us around here. Thank you, Allen and Phyllis.
Many trees were cleared by the creek so Allen saved plenty of wood pieces that became candlesticks on our dining tables. A rustic, homespun look seemed appropriate this year, with plenty of red plaid and magnolia leaves.
I sketched out this picture of a stage in my head, and had plenty of help making it happen.
Helloooo, up there.
Baby girl got to ride on the lift with right hand man, Tracy. Just take a look at this view.
I'll stay right down here on terra firma myself.
Don't ya think it's kinda cozy to start dinner off with fire pits, s'mores, hot chocolate, and Christmas music? Well I do, so we strung lights and fresh green garlands outside the cafeteria and waited for dark.
Oh, what a gorgeous night.
Come on inside our little cabin on Mossy Creek and let's celebrate Christmas together.
